Residential
Project:City Beach House 1
Status:Completed 2008
Brief:The client’s initial brief to Q3 contained the pragmatic functional requirements for Living Areas, Bedrooms and service areas but it was the discussions that followed that conveyed what was important to them and how they wanted to live.
Solution:The clients for this project are passionate about their family, their community and living a healthy lifestyle. They care about the environment and are actively involved in promoting sustainability through their work. Their commitment to sustainability extended to their approach to selecting the site for their home and procuring the design.
An ongoing process of enquiry, research, consultation and cooperation facilitated the translation of their dreams and aspirations for the future into built form.
The site was selected by the clients for its proximity to a small shopping strip, a local school and the amenity of the adjacent park and the beach.
The house was designed based on ESD principles to maximize passive solar benefits. It also incorporated active energy and water conservation systems including rainwater storage, grey water recycling and the installation of photovoltaic panels for electricity generation.
The finished project has delivered a built solution which successfully embodies their approach to life. Relaxed, functional and sustainable.
