El Caballo Lifestyle Village,

Brief: To design a “Lifestyle Village” on a 13 hectare site adjacent to the El Caballo Resort located north east of Mundaring, in the Shire of Northam.
Solutions: A number of sites were considered for the development with site selection determined following analysis of topographical, geotechnical and preliminary engineering advice.

Brief:To design a “Lifestyle Village” on a 13 hectare site adjacent to the El Caballo Resort located north east of Mundaring, in the Shire of Northam.
Solutions:A number of sites were considered for the development with site selection determined following analysis of topographical, geotechnical and preliminary engineering advice.
The village, comprises 228 homes predominantly of 2 and 3 bedrooms. A range of elevational treatments provide variety in streetscapes within a homogenous design palette. Community facilities include a centrally located Reception/Clubhouse, small commercial spaces for the use of visiting practitioners providing services to village residents, a pool, lawn bowls, barbeque areas and landscaped grounds.
The proposal, developed in response to the current shortfall of affordable retirement facility options located in semi-rural areas close to Perth, provides an excellent facility in an appropriate location. The project will go some way towards meeting the large market demand for retirement accommodation of this type, whilst preserving in a sustainable way the rural, non-commercial character of the site.
