Project:East Fremantle Yacht Club
Status:Concept Design 2008
Brief:Improve functionality of the existing yacht club facility. Master planning for the staged redevelopment.
Solution:Existing uses and the anticipated functional needs of the club were analysed to establish the optimum zoning of the site and buildings to maximize efficiency and amenity. Proposed work was then prioritized to determine construction staging. Construction timing was then established based on funding availability and the need to maintain ongoing yacht club operations.
Site planning resolves existing pedestrian and vehicular circulation conflicts, provides an upgraded public entrance to the club, improves access and rationalizes existing service infrastructure. The building design improves the functionality of existing spaces and provides additional accommodation as required by the project brief to capitalize on the riverfront location. The building form is designed to incorporate historic building elements and reflect the member’s vision for an appropriate “yacht club” aesthetic.
