Master Planning
Project:Karratha Workers Village
Status:Completed 2008
Brief:Design of an accommodation village for a large corporate client to provide for workers employed by a mining company in the northwest of Western Australia. “a vibrant community not a barracks”
Solution:The facility was designed to maximize accommodation yield without compromising amenity. The preliminary planning approach was based on a thorough site analysis which established environmental considerations, access options, servicing requirements and available infrastructure. Site planning aimed to provide a comfortable, attractive environment with a “community” focus. Individual accommodation units were designed to provide private facilities. The areas around accommodation units and between accommodation units and community buildings provides a progressive filtering of the public/private space continuum.
Project documentation was developed in conjunction with a large consultant group assembled to provide specialist advice in planning, engineering, construction, landscaping and facility management.
The success of this project confirms Q3’s position as an industry leader in the design of prefabricated accommodation villages in remote area s of WA.
