Project:Albany Gardens Lifestyle Village

Brief:Provide a ‘Central Facilities Building’ for the use of the residents of an existing lifestyle village. Accommodation to include an office, multi-purpose function area for community gatherings, a gym and pool.
Solutions:Location and orientation and of the building were guided by the development master plan and an analysis of the selected site in relation to topography, environmental/climatic factors, access and egress and available service infrastructure. The building was designed as two pavilions, separating the office/function areas and the recreation areas to achieve appropriate functional and acoustic separation. The building form and materials were chosen to create a simple, economic structure delivering a high level of amenity for residents using the facility. Passive solar principles were employed to optimize the thermal performance of the building.
Close collaboration with the selected builder through the design development and documentation stages has assisted in the delivery of a building design which satisfies the requirements of the project brief and budget.
